Do you happen to be the architect behind this? Otherwise, I would think a moderator would be above the pathetic defensive city patriotism rampant on this forum.

I'm sorry if that offended you, I was just pointing out the hypocrisy of your opinion.

It's going to date about as well as mid-80s Post Modernism has. It won't every be considered hideous by most people but they'll know it's not aesthetically correct.

It already looks like it's aged poorly by the lighting in that image...bleugh.

It's not terrible, but it definitely looks like a confused building, though the original looked alright, if not a tad awkward.

Let's not flip things around in the usual SSP sense. It's not me that offended. It's you with your childish defensive retort because, oh no, I find the WSP reclad crap. It's just an avatar. It's not hypocrisy. It's irony.

The problem is, you don't like almost everything you see on the forum. Every improvement that happens gets shot down, and it is getting tiresome.

The way a building looks isn't nearly as important as how it is used. We know of ugly buildings that are adored, and beautiful buildings that are abandoned.

Try looking at the big picture for once.

Oh my. That's horrible. I wouldn't expect to see something so drastic like that in Montreal. Montreal has enough glass cladded buildings, and even then this is a blatant disregard to the character of the immediate neighbourhood and to the architect who designed this building. I love the style of the building when it was first built. It's simplistic, yet holds a strong sense of structure and unity in its design. Glass is just synonymous and unattractive comparatively.

Oh my. I guess you'd really have to see it with your own eyes to understand just how ugly that building was. The old cladding will not be missed by anybody.

Obviously, the old cladding needed paint and new vent covers but, now it's just a glass/glass spandrel box. At least its only a mid rise. The same is about to happen to the Richmond Adelaide Centre in Toronto. They are high rises.

Regarding the Musique Plus Building, I prefer the "before" as well... As mentioned, all it needed was for the metal to be painted/cleaned. It went from being a nice example of the International Style to a generic glass box.

Some people also want the same kind of renovation made to the Rogers Building which looks quite a bit worse.. I'm more undecided on this one.

I have. 'Ugly' or needing a little love? It was significantly better design before.

This government building was recebtly purchased by IA Insurance and they've decided to go ahead with a much needed reclad. If only the Complexe G would follow the same path!!!

itom 987, do what many of us have started doing. Don't respond to any of his comments. It makes this forum a much better place to visit.

They finally lit up the WSP tower, keep in mind that those lights can change colour. They are apparently showing green and gold in this photo, colours of the Edmonton Eskimos.
