Victor Homes posted those ugly interior shots, but not the exterior shot on their website.

http://www.victorgroupnyc.com/portfo...-fifth-avenue/

I'm still dubious that we've seen what will rise. VH hasn't even filed demo permits for 273 and 275 5th, which it owns.

The missing piece of the puzzle!

I would not be surprised if Victor buys adjacent properties on E 30th.

Victor Group no longer has any images of 281 5th on its website, which leads me to believe that the design has not been finalized.

Demolition is proceeding on 281 and 279 Fifth. Victor has not yet started demolishing 277, 275, 273, or 2 E 30th.

Not what will be built here. Somewhere else, maybe...

Studio Dror continued to think about different ways of building towers with their conceptual design for 281 Fifth Avenue, a site at the corner of 30th Street where a 52-story Rafael Viñoly-designed tower will actually rise. Dror's concept is a 1,000-foot-tall tower oriented in a pinwheel shape with four quadrants. The layout allows three of the apartments' four sides to be free, and used in impressively thoughtful ways. Via Dror,

Of the remaining three glass walls, one faces the adjacent unit's wet wall, which doubles as a projector screen: real-time imagery of the environment directly behind the wall can be projected there, seamlessly connecting with existing views to provide an increased perspective. The wall can also be used as a surface to view other media, or switched off completely.

The building's small base would bolster views in the apartments as well as lighten the tower's street presence. Too bad that design's just a concept. It sounds pretty neat.

The purely conceptual proposal – imagined for a site on Fifth Avenue – is a 1,000-foot (305-metre) tower with sweeping concrete walls arranged in an off-set cross that would allow individual apartments to be attached by their corners. This would enable them to each have windows on at least three sides.

The small footprint would prevent the building from dominating the street at pedestrian level.

A developer has recently approached the studio to look at using the design for another site in Manhattan.

I could see that tower at 80 South Street. Was it ever confirmed that SHoP was in fact behind that project? All I remember is them teasing a tower downtown.

^^

This would have been interesting. I wonder if the latest design revealed will change somewhat.

Demo continues on 281 and 279. Demo permits have been filed for 277 and 275, together with 2 E 30th, but no work has started yet.

I can't wait to see what this will look like. Fairly sure that the final design has not been disclosed.

They also own 277, 275, 273, and 2 E 3Oth St. All of those buildings are vscant, but actual demo has started only on 281 and 279 5th. The developer only recently acquired 277, and it was fully vacated only within the past 2 weeks. A demo permit was filed. I assume it and the other properties will come down soon.

The renders thus far have been only on the footprint of 281 and 279, so that's changing.

Well that's about right. 277 5th is nicest little building, so that's gone and the three shit boxes next to it get to live forever.

JR is likely correct.

No. 277 has a demo permit, but so does 273, filed by the developer. 275 and 2 E 30th St still need demo permits, though.

What should be taken down too is 271 5th and the crap east of 2 E 30th, but probably won't.

Ya keeping 271 5 with air rights means they can have lot line windows thus better marketable units, right?

There's clearly no final design. The rendering that was posted on Victor's site, before it acquired 277 5th, has been deleted.

http://www.victorgroupnyc.com/portfo...-fifth-avenue/

There will be a lot of competition here. Within one block, we will have:

281 5th,

15 E 30th, and

3 W 29th.

Very nearby will be 172 Madison.

PS: 281 and 279 have been razed. Interior clean up has been going on for days at 277, and demo should be done by the end of August. Demo also will occur at Several other contiguous properties that the developer owns.
