Meant to post this the other day but wow is sled ever picking up traction with their billing. Sled Island Announces Initial Headliners! Among some of the few announced: Spiritualized, Neko Case, St. Vincent, Rhye, Killer Mike, The Julie Ruin. As well with their kick-off concert with Parquet Courts. Every year keeps getting better and better. Can't wait for the full lineup to be released.

I'm showing my age here but I'm stoked to see Rocket from the Crypt and Bob Mould. I just hope they don't have them playing at the same time like they did last year with Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and SuperChunk.

Maybe the only good thing the flood did to Sled Island last year is they moved the Superchunk show from the Republik to Flames Central due to the closure of Mission; I caught the first half of JSBX (which, as it turns out, was a sufficient dose for me) in the Legion, then hightailed it over and caught all of Superchunk. Then I woke up the next morning to no power and evacuated, but you can't win 'em all.

Neko Case, Killer Mike, Joel Plaskett, Rhye; it's an interesting mix. Would be great if they could get a couple more headliners who were cancelled from last year (the Thermals, JAMC, I'm talking to you).

I volunteer and had JAMC, JSBX and Superchunk as shows I wanted to work. I got two of the three and was going to be in the pit for JAMC.

Got to see Superchunk, who put on an awesome show. On the way home, I stopped off in the east village and snagged a few shots. Woke up dry and unaffected.

That's some pretty steep company! good for Sled Island.

Speaking of music festivals, when do they announce the lineup for Xfest?

Indeed, this is really impressive. Tiesto and Hardwell really are BIG deals in the EDM scene. Should be really good. Stoked for Cash Cash and 3Lau

Badlands Music Festival Lineup was also announced this week. I am up not sure about this one. Duck Sauce as a headliner!? WTF? Rumour has it that the mystery headliner is either Alesso or Dirty South. The Bloody Beetroots (Live), Glitchmob and Datsik should all be good. Nice to see a Calgary staple, the Smalltown DJs, on the bill.

Wish I shared your enthusiasm. Despite not being wowed, I'm sure I'll be pleasantly surprised. As I am every year. I am looking forward to Kid Koala, he was there a few years ago and did a set with Dragon Fli Empire that was off the hook.

This years' lineup certainly doesn't have the big names like last year. It should be a nice introduction for the good people of Calgary to some great lesser known Musicians.

Also for the EDM lovers, the Chasing Summer lineup is really quite solid.

Colin Stetson and Patrick Watson are two definitely worth seeing

So has anyone heard Otafest, Calgary's anime convention, will be moving to downtown next year? Last year's attendance was over 7000. I think it may be around 10000 this year. Imagine what the attendance would be like next year.
