Really like this picture. Unless you live here, it is unlikely you would guess it was taken in Austin.

True. This actual CVC is located on the Lamar Bridge, not the Pfluger pedestrian bridge. The pedestrian bridge was built years after that CVC was created.

Yep, the trees, hills, and historic homes make me think of somewhere else.

What kinda image would make you think of Austin if I may ask?

Other than Maybe the historic Victorian era homes, mostly because we don't have them on the same scale as other cities do, the other things make me think of Austin because we have trees and hills.

I think what might throw some off on this being Austin are the hills, and probably more than that trying to pinpoint what city those highrises are in. These are nice buildings, especially Seven, but they aren't our signature buildings, and because of where they are and their height, they don't show up in skyline photos. Plus, this isn't an area of downtown that is typically shown anyway.

I like it. I'm sure the OverAustin guy has already done this, but when it's more dense it'd have a cooler effect anyway.

It's interesting how many times this one changed. With exception to the first rendering when it was called the Bremond, they just changed the top (crown/extra partial floor?) and the garage part. I think it looked better with an extra floor on top but it still is a great addition to the area.

Now that the cladding is going up it's not what I expected based on the renderings. Looks to be a mix of stucco and rusty corrugated metal.

Big fan of this building. It's looking even better than the renders. Many buildings this height don't have the style and presence that Rise does.

I like it too, especially the vertically elongated windows. I just hope corvairkeith's description was it "looks" like stucco, but isn't actually stucco. To me stucco is poverty siding.

Give me a break! So the 700k - 1m+ homes in the hill country with stucco are poverty??

Ok, take a 10 minute break. I said "to me" it looks like poverty siding, to clarify, as it pertains to highrises. Don't care what they slap on the sides of expensive houses in the Hill Country. Its a cheap alternative to better and more elegant materials for developers to use on houses and highrises. My calling it poverty siding is a description I use to describe cheap alternatives like my car and brand of cigarettes, and my underwear, and when I make spam and noodles, aka my poverty meal. You can argue that millionaires in Hawaii eat spam if you like. Its still a poverty meal to me.
And one more thing not related to your spot on amazing completely relevant point, hehehe, just kidding...
Rise is a stupid name for this building.

No. They just have "poverty siding".

I almost choked I laughed so hard at that phrase.

I plan to use it often.

Stucco is ugly. It cracks and is notorious for getting dirty.

By the way, when I think of poverty siding, I think of plywood - or if you're really poor, particle board.

Haha, I've been off the forum while traveling and working lately. This has been an amusing read to catch up...
