I agree.. who cares what anyone thinks about fashion. Blue jeans and a t-shirt. That's all you need.

Is it just me or is the grammar in that article horrendous? for a newspaper too!

Austin is like one of those cities that simply does not care what others think. it's like a concept entirely its own that not many cities can boast having. edit: oh, so they've already released the top 5 and LA came to number 2. boston is at number one. yeah, this list is not meant to be taken seriously at all. if just about all of the top cities are on this list, who knows what their best dressed cities would be on their list.

Another thing I scratch my head about is how Austin is considered pretentious. I mean, if not caring what others think about how you dress is pretentious, then I'm the biggest snob there is on the planet and I look good doing it.

That list was pretty funny. Not a real list, just an opportunity to have some fun poking at all the cities. Although on this ...

Isn't that the same thing that Tini Price and Janis Joplin said?

I miss the pretty girls. I remember another list that ranked Austin at No. 5 of most beautiful people in the country right behind LA. Miami was no. 1 if I remember correctly. I'd bet that per capita within Austin's core, Austin certainly has the most attractive people in the nation. And I am not exaggerating by any means.

The joke's on them. Most of the time I don't even wear a shirt, and flip flops are genius.

Of course I do put on a shirt when I want to be presentable. lol

And is that American-Statesman article REALLY talking about fashion watching at an outdoor concert? Nevermind that Bob Dylan is on stage, hey let's talk about his shoes.

Anyway, this topic got me to thinking of this clip from one of my favorite movies:

Wow, I gotta say, that's quite a prestigious list. I'm actually surprised. It's not just in the nation... it's #13 in the world. I'm wondering... if this was just in the nation, it certainly seems it would be in the top 10.

Ya, was really impressed with that to. But not really all that surprised. The film school at UT is a monster.

Although to be honest once you get out of the top 5 (which my alma mater, UCLA, is in ) it drops off quite quickly.

Another reason why I was quite impressed was because I've never actually been impressed with the student's film works in particular. That's why I moved to SF to attend film school here. The school I'm going to know, I'm actually impressed with the fact that you can network, and work with people who are now working in the industry and the students works are actually very inspiring. So I wonder what in particular makes UTs film school that special to be mentioned over New York Film Academy, Academy of Art University, Vancouver Film School, or Full Sail. All these are pretty well known film schools as well who have great reputations, except of course for being so damn pricy.

Can we honestly say that this is Austin's decade? There always seems to be a period in time in which there is one city that stands out above the rest. San Francisco in the late 60s and 70s. Seattle in the late 80s and 90s. Austin now in the late 2000s and 2010s. People seem to constantly bicker about Austin simply knowing how to market themselves to the media. But I highly doubt that, as Austin is making just about every list from a different array of sources. It's not that Austin is any better than the rest of America. It just means that this is Austin in its up and coming moments. I'm just saying.

I know this isn't actually Austin but it's found between here and Houston and it's almost home and I really like ice cream.

Top 5 non-ocean ‘beach’ destinations

#4. Lake Travis, Texas: Austin is a well-known hippie-dippy college town, known for its Tex-Mex, Longhorns, and top-flight music festivals. But Austin is also home to Lake Travis, an 18-acre lake, with 270 miles of shoreline. Fishing? Check. Water sports? Check. Parasailing and diving? Check, check. Fun fact: Lake Travis also boasts the "clothing optional" Hippie Hollow Park.

For the whole list see:
