Live in the SW (Ambleside to be exact). It's not that bad. Multiple options too.
Although, I rarely have to commute downtown anymore. Transit from my house to downtown is great too. 45 mins front door to office chair using either mode.

Always tell cabbies when in DT Calgary going to YYC to use Edmonton Trail; then watch as we fly past the mess that is Deerfoot.

I'm not saying it would make sense. I'm saying such a road would not affect the river valley and therefore it would theoretically be possible for Edmonton to both have a stronger road network and a scenic river valley. Additionally, freeway spurs into downtown from multiple directions are not an uncommon thing in the aforementioned cities whose cores have been negatively impacted by freeways.

all relative I suppose... That would not be a regular commuting time I could handle

I guess they will maintain the ROW to preserve the option of this being a flyover in the future. However, given the noise the residents adjacent to the ROW further north in Twin Brooks made with the long term plans of a bridge off of 119th, we will see if/when this would ever be used.

Good riddance, I say. A right-in, right-out intersection on a freeway is seriously deficient.

No kidding unless you don't care about safety. Either build a proper interchange or have people use one either before or after the location.

there's really not enough room to fix the RIRO to proper length - 111st off ramps are too close.

Memo shows poor communication between council and admin over Henday exit closure
City admin knew province planned to close unsafe Henday exit later this year

Using the NE leg every day, seems to me like its getting good use...

Question regarding bike paths/connections at the new NSR crossing, I've noticed they recently paved the multi use trail on the North banks... any update if they're open for use?

Also I thought there was a multi use path under the road crossing too, not sure if that is completed?

Well I went and took a ride and looked for myself... you can drop down from the west side trail under the bridge (although I think it's still being worked on, as there are some questionable rails installed) and you can climb the east side trail, where you eventually reach a private property sign and cannot go further. I think/hope that trail will continue on past Raven Crest, etc.

Yes the trail does continue past Raven Crest

Traffic has decreased at Henday's busiest point between 87 Ave and Stony Plain Rd in the west, down a significant 2.5% to 105,240 vs 108,330 in 2016.
Very surprised that Stoney Trail isn't as busy than the Henday, but maybe that is because there is no SW bypass yet?

I'm guessing anyone who needs to go half way around now goes via the east instead of the west to avoid the SW gongshow.

Are they still planning to turn Whitemud/Anthony Henday west into a full free flow interchange?

Sounds like the four laning of Hwy 1 in BC, at some point in my lifetime. They could build one flyover to at least make Whitemud Dr free flow.

I still have yet to drive the entire ring, I may do so when I come to town Easter long weekend. Would have loved to trailer my motorcycle along but the long term weather forecasts for end of month say no.
