A square peg in a round hole - you can see one of the chocks holding the form inside of the sleeve.

It looks like they're moving at a pretty aggressive pace on this.

Are we waiting for the tower to start construction before moving the thread (as opposed to construction of the deck)?

nice to see this moving forward but i really am going to miss that westward view. its so unique being able to on one hand stand amongst glass skyscrapers while still being able to peer into that old industrial version of chicago off in the distance, with multiple metras lines clanging into the station, the Lake street L rumbling, a smattering of old warehouses, etc. its such a hive of activity and its kind of a shame to see it getting covered up. i routinely see tourists stop on the Lake bridge just to take it all in, as do i.

^I'm in favor of the project but agree. It will be interesting when it starts rising to see which sightlines remain, etc

The Water Taxi is a cheap seat with a good view.

Those engineers don't seem to mind being knee-deep in muck.

I really like seeing the usage of the barge to deliver materials for this project. It's so practical and so old school.

Confirmed. Will this night construction be happening for the long term or just a few nights? A caisson was drilled in-between the tracks last night.

The 1st notice specified 4 nights of drilling.

But, there will necessarily be more than just a few nights. There are quite a few caissons that need to be drilled on the east side of the tracks.

There will quite a bit of night work until the platform over the tracks is finished.

Now it's for real!

Are these notices available on the web somewhere? I've noticed the Fulton River District Association publishing these "notices" too, but I can't find the source.

The source is the developer. I would ask your building's management to get copies from Hines. But, I cannot fathom why your building (300 Canal) would not be on the distribution list already.

Tonight the drilling starts again. Gearing up right now.

Man, this is right in your face on the river. I don't disagree with the project, but I really hope the materials used are top notch, the glazing should be perfect on this, hope they don't go cheap, this is an awesome building site location.

Left Bank probably is on the list. I was hoping for an online source - Left Bank management isn't too on top of sharing this type of stuff with their residents.

Took these photos very early this morning after being woken up and prior to putting in my ear plugs. While its been really fun to watch this project during the day, it hasn't been fun dealing with "night construction". I'm excited for the next two nights to be over.

It's interesting, the drilling itself isn't very loud. I have L trains and Metra locomotives going by my place constantly so I'm used to noise. The thing that makes the real noise is when they pull the drill out and "shake it" against the dump truck. That metal on metal smashing noise can get annoying at 3am.

Thanks for posting. It's nice that someone who lives nearby is thoughtful enough to do so.
