Why is there a Williams Tower awkwardly posed in the skyline of Seattle in the background there?

I can't tell how tall the building is, but that's a nice looking pool.

New Debakey High School for Health Professions: Going up in the TMC

Renderings of the new DeBakey High School for Health Professions are featured in a new HISD video that highlights the planning and design of the campus.

The new facility’s transparent and collaborative design will provide students a 21st century academic experience in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. The school will be located in the medical center to better engage students in a medicine and research facility environment and provide them easy access to these resources.

“Emerging in the Texas Medical Center is going to create a completely new learning environment for the students,” said Nancy Moreno of the Baylor College of Medicine. “They’re going to experience the medical center on a day-to-day basis, not only in their rotations.”

Through regular Project Advisory Team meetings as well as design charrettes and community meetings, the school’s staff and community supporters have helped shaped the new facility design by working one on one with architects and HISD facility planners and designers.

“We want this to be their building,” said HISD General Manager of Facilities Design Dan Bankhead. “DeBakey has a very special and successful program. It’s important that we build a building that’s going to address those special needs they have and reflect the spirit, success and achievements this program has already accomplished.”

Great news! One of the things the Texas Medical Center could use most is students because they tend to go out into the neighborhood and spend their money more likely than patients, employees or people visiting patients.

This could potentially be very bad news for Downtown. Chevron's spokesman claims that this won't affect the Downtown project, but with Chevron delaying the project and putting money elsewhere, I have some doubts.

Perhaps, but they're sinking all their money into an Australian gas works. Supposedly, this project comes to the front burner in late 2015.

The land purchase in Katy would probably be for a R&D facility, while the new tower will contain corporate employees.

I know that, but it's still a little disheartening to see Chevron announce this while not giving us anything new on the Downtown proposal.

thoroughly impressed as per the scale, scope, and overall design of this new prospective school. very modern, and yet efficient approach to learning. not to mention, this edifice should indeed age very well. nicely done.

for once, i would like to view a large overall illustration as per this GRB concept. every rendering presented thus far, has been only "bits and pieces" of the overall pie. i want to see just how it looks as per a wideview overall. anyone?
