Brexit Britain

A small tour of London and the west of England (partly through the medium of wool) to ease the Brieving.

Musical accompaniment:

Beautiful set with appropriate music. Where's the lovely wool model? (I'm still quite upset about the Brexit vote myself. Can't believe that choice was made.)

Thanks! The model is of Bristol city centre - it is brilliant - here's a shot that gives an idea of the extent of it.https://goo.gl/photos/6zR1Ub2dEawVfvek9

Gob-smackingly ace collection of photos, Brexithead. What's ironic about it all is that it's the ones who voted for out who'll get fleeced the worsted.

Just about the same all over the old developed world (Western Europe and North America), apparently.

On one hand, those making a better living from globalization, usually the better educated working for well established corporations and the financial or tech industries.

On the other, people living globalization as a downgrade of their own situations.

That would be the actual split now a days. No wonder a pretty large majority of Londoners voted for the remain side.

Well, economists over here are not exactly taking Brexit as a good deal for us either. It's annoying them. Their point is quite simple and relevant, as economics usually seems nothing too hard to understand anyway. If the British happened to go worse off for some time, that would be the likely case for the coming years, their consumption of French goods and services would only decrease, while a couple of insurance companies and a few small tech businesses currently based in England that may relocate to the Paris CBD would simply never be enough to make up for the potential loss. That might cost up to 1% of our GDP according to the projections I heard of lately.

However, the British are also said notably skilled at diplomacy to maintain their trade interests, so there's still a little hope for an EU-UK bilateral deal to soften the potential damage.

Overall, this whole story only rises annoyance anyway.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated!

Lio45 - the fishing village is Clovelly in North Devon - see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Closely

Fern - yes, it is sad how divided it is. Hopefully there is some way back, but it will be a long old road.

Nice, rare pics! And congratulations to Brexit, Britain! EU costs huge amounts of money, destroys the important borders between the countries and increase the problems and the gaps. I'm right now a bit jealous and hope that Sweden will follow, then the rest of Europe.

^ Uh, wut? is this serious?
Hell, this is disappointing.

But the 6 founding states have always been bolder than other partners in that matter anyway.

I can tell, this is at least one thing for which the French are able to forget their mindset of mediocre little shopkeepers.
Quite something.

Here's another split here. The youth has faith in the EU. Old sorry people don't. Lol

Do you know how much the EU cost for each country? Here in Sweden many people want to leave EU. We voted no to the euro, something we definately won't regret today! People often know better then politicans. Norway and Switzerland are two of the best economies in Europe. Just saying...

London was beautiful. I was just there the weekend before and the week of the BREXIT. I was in SOUTHAMPTON on the 23rd which also happens to be my birthday, and I was boarding the QM2 for New York. Beautiful country. I spoke to many people on both sides and it really educated me on the issue as an American. Either way England was and always will be amazing.

If that is Clovelly then by swimming out from the coast you would actually get to Wales, it's on the north coast of Devon in SW England.
