So, I was reading up on air travel in China as I was stuck at the Kunming airport with a weather delay tonight. I came across an article about a second major airport in Beijing that could essentially bypass Beijing Capital International Airport as the primary airport in Beijing, though it's intended to serve the southern parts of Beijing as well as Tianjin and Hebei. I'm a bit behind the times on this one as the most helpful article I came across is from 2015. The airport is currently under construction.

Tower started streaming on Netflix this month. It's pretty awesome. It combines news footage, animation and interviews with people still alive who witnessed that sad day.

The photo has geo data, there is a map you can click on Flickr. It looks like it's near govalle park, north of Bolm and east of Springdale. Probably the southern walnut creek trail.

You're right. I didn't realize Walnut Creek was paved (a la the L.A. River). This view from Airport Blvd. looks like it might be close to the spot.

Boggy Creek, not Walnut Creek. I really think this creek is an underutilized asset through the core.

Indeed. Various parts of the Boggy Creek area have been fairly brownfield in the past, including the creek itself. That's a relic of the past at this point however. Maybe the large amounts of redevelopment going on in the watershed will lead to better utilization in the future.

The proposed EastLink trail links should help connect Boggy and Walnut Creek as well and I hope the proposed improvements come to fruition:

I was watching something on TV when I saw this avenue in Mexico City and kind of reminded me of Congress Ave here if the picture was taken behind the Goddess of Liberty. I grabbed a screen shot from that program. I'm not making comparisons, just noting that this resembles Austin's avenue to me, just on a grander scale.

Yeah, I wonder if older density in Portland has something to do with that? It definitely feels like there is more tree cover in Portland from ground level.

I think Austin is also higher than average due to the Greenbelt, Emma Long, McKinney Falls, and a lot of undeveloped land along 2222. All of these fall within the city limits, so that could help to boost the numbers. That said, there are a ton of trees in the neighborhoods throughout the city. Really cool to see.

Surely Atlanta must have more trees than us. I would imagine Charlotte has a ton of them, too.
