There has been rapid progress at the Vehicle Security Center site at the south end of the WTC site that has not been discussed here. I trust relevant though, because that is crucial infrastructure for future access to the entire site and obviously interfaces with the transit hub and memorial.
Both images from IrishinNYC at WNY. According to OP, the circular pad will be the base of a spiral access ramp that will allow vehicles to enter the WTC from street level. Personally this was news to me, I had thought the primary access would be via West Street.

You people complain way too much. The Memorial should just use fake grass. That way it would be green all year and you can all shut up.
I've have never complained about the memorial, actually i find it esquisite... I just don't see the need for reseeding since any kind of turf lawn is supposed to be periennial (both of macrotherm and microtherm grasses).

Regarding the seemingly still dormant swamp white oaks, perhaps someone can go down there and take a few closeups of the branches of the trees so we can see that they (hopefully) are at least starting to bud.
Seeing as spring just started I wouldn't worry too much about the trees budding, this year(Zen did say that until they adapt to their new environment they'll have to endure the first few years). The Survivor Tree bloomed a few weeks faster than the swamp white oaks last year, as well.

I spend most Saturday mornings standing by the Survivor Tree. Don't worry about the White Swamps. They usually bloom in late April/May and they are nicely on schedule.
A few people ask why they are dead and a few ask why they haven't dropped all their leaves from the fall. This is not unusual in young white swamp oaks. Give it another month.
As for the grass discussion, I was somewhat annoyed that they had the grass areas roped off to prevent anyone walking on the fresh sod, but I guess it really does not detract from the memorial as a whole. And it does look very nice with fresh green.
As for the Hub portion, I was somewhat upset when I went to the wintergarden and the west street exit was boarded up and closed! Buuuut, then I saw this, and was made very, very happy...

If it wasn't roped off, it would get trampled. I believe this is what killed the original grass. At the very least, it needs time to "take".
About the grass - the best time of the year to plant grass is right before the summer. They needed the grass for the anniversary and probably planned for much of it to die. Sorry if that's been answered already.

Does anyone know if the ledge/walkway that is below and in front of the large truss is also going to be removed, or is it going to be a part of the building?
