My god why is it so hard to build this thing or something similar to it in this booming market?

It was planned for the block immediately south of the Ardea, which is still vacant and owned by the same property owner.

I forgot about this building....guess I figured it was a dead project.......scratch that, I thought I clicked on a different thread. This would have been quite a unique building had it been built.

Why can't our proposals look anything like that anymore? I feel like the architecture in this city has really regressed in the past 10 years. It's sad.

I feel like Portland has excelled with small architecture projects, but most of the more larger projects in recent years has been a bit of a let down.

True, there's definitely some quality infill projects out there. But the large scale, skyline impacting projects have been consistent duds in my opinion.

A quick google search - With the recent homeless camp sweeps and seeing how THRASHED this area is now reminded me of this project.

IIRC this project was planned in 2005/2006 but never came to fruition.

Is block 43 the original design for Riva on the Park? It looks incredibly similar.

(Circa 2005 - Jumptown @ The RQ)

Highly disappointed that this didn't leave the ground.

That one breaks my heart.

It was going to be named The Delano, but if I'm not mistaken, the timing was bad. I don't know if it got killed off by the Great Recession (thanks Dubya) or by the NW Film Center which moved from half a block in near 11th & Jefferson to its current location so that The Jeffrey could be built so that Sky3 could be built, dot dot dot. The NW Film Center's current location is where The Delano was going to be built.

The Delano would have been a fantastic addition to downtown. Ah well. As they say, timing is everything.
