Very nice! I'm excited to see Virginia Beach boom! I used to go every summer but haven't been in a while. It's a fantastic town. Would love to see more taller hotel/apartment/condo towers lining the water front.

Indeed. I love walking on the boardwalk when I go down there! LOTS of potential here for some spectacular high rises.

we may see a few 300fts pop up on the ocean front but since the town center phase is near done private contractors will come in and develop areas around it .and we also might have an arena pop up adjacent to the convention center.

Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau (VBCVB) lists some new developments on their page: VBCVB New Development Projects
Some of the larger projects worth mentioning:

1) Virginia Beach Arena(Proposal)
- 18,500-seat / 750,000-square-feet
Quote:
WHEN WOULD CONSTRUCTION & JOBS START? The first step is to have the proposal approved by the Virginia Beach City Council. Once that takes place, plans can commence. An arena could be completed and a pro team playing here as early as 2015.

2) Convention Center Headquarters Hotel (Proposal)
- 180-foot-tall headquarters hotel

Why wouldn't it be a good idea? The Hampton Roads Tide light rail, from what I've read, is already exceeding ridership forecasts. This would provide a seemless connection to Virginia Beach from the Amtrak, making Virginia Beach far more convenient for weekend visitors from DC and Northern Virginia. Additionally, private sector firms have shown interest in building this infrastructure as a public/private partnership arrangement.

Finally, in DC, there is hundred of millions of dollars of development around most of our metro-rail stations. Passenger rail, including light rail, is a very effective economic catalyst.

I didn't realize that no one had posted in this thread since 2013, I will be capturing some pics from the sky to update this thread, I can't believe no one lives in this area.

Crazy to think I started this thread when I was 15 now I'm 24. The oceanfront has experienced serious infill midrise projects , and on the beach , a few 20+ story hotels have went up. In town center , Pembroke mall has been stripped to make way for more additions on the fringe of the property. I'll make sure to take some pictures next time I'm out there .

I was hoping Pembroke Mall would be demolished and then extend Downtown into that area with a street grid, city blocks and highrises with ground floor retail.
