Thanks. I haven't been to Detroit in quite a few years, and I wasn't into urban photography then to the extent that I am now. Around 1980 I caught a train to Toledo from Michigan Central Station when it was almost deserted but still intact, and I really regret now that I didn't even take along a camera on that trip.
If things work out this summer, I hope to make it there; it's only about a three-hour drive from where I live. I've wanted to see the Diego Rivera frescoes at the Detroit Institute of Arts ever since I read about them long ago, and the Guardian Building is high on my priority list, too.
I hope you can make it out there this summer. I'd love to see Detroit from your perspective. The Guardian building looks really cool from what I've seen on google images. i think I'll pay it a visit when I go next month.
Honestly I almost feel worse for Toledo than I do Detroit. The art museum and the zoo are both top notch, but beyond that it's a really depressing place in my experience (went to HS about 30 min NW).

I had no idea Toledo was in such rough shape. I guess I can't generalize the entire city, but your thread makes Flint look good. I'd like to see some of the nicer parts someday.
