My guess is because we are in between the past and the future at the moment, where as most places in canada seem to be set in one or the other.

Yeah I think youre right. We have a lot of growth in particular centres and a lot of decline in others across NL. I guess being in a stage of growth, development, and change which is really unprecedented in our province has rallied a lot of interest in the types of discussions that take place here. Architecture, urban planning, economics, and even just the exchange of ideas between places. I enjoy seeing what other cities and towns have done and then thinking of ways similar ideas could be applied or created here, or Corner Brook, or St. John's.
And in the last 10 years or so we've really taken the provincial pride thing to a whole new level, and we have a lot to share.
