Gio, I thought you were doing a play on the word.

So is what your saying is that Waterfront Square is really a "Gator Community"?

I guess so if you look at it like it just eats up the area around it! At least for most of us.

From the 29 April 2005 Philadelphia Inquirer

From this ad you can see that the first 3 towers are sold out and that they are now taking reservations on the 4th tower, The Horizon, which is 37 stories and the tallest.

That really is a great project. Glad to see it is selling so well too.

Actually, I think Waterfront Square being a gated community is why it is selling so well. I was there on a Saturday afternoon and I didn't feel comfortable. Empty fields and old, unkept industrial buildings surrounding the property is a mugging waiting to happen.

Basically all these condo developments are "gated" meaning your not getting in there unless you own a unit or are invited in by an owner. Waterfront Square is one large building (an enclosed parking lot with 5 towers on the edges) with a club house on the river.

Having an area of the city gated off is kind of strange come to mention it.

That construction is blazing fast. Can somebody tell me where that is? I don't notice it coming up 95. Do you have to go north of the B. Frank to see it?

They can only be doing piping and mechanical until the units are closed in. Then they can do the finished work.

The south tower is moving quickly. They need to get into high gear since they now have to get tower 3 up.

Thx Eigenwelt.

About 45 minutes after I asked that, I saw it off the Vine St. Expwy. It's a little secluded, it seems.

It is, but I suspect it will become alot more vibrant an area once the residential population rises. Right now its industrial and nightclubs, thats pretty much it.

With the 700 Delaware project right next to it (with its own towers, commerical, and rowhomes) and the very very slight chance of the philly WTC, that area could suddenly have its own mini skyline in a few years.

Eh... The way it's designed, it looks to be very suburban in nature. I mean, listen to the guy's assinine comments on its design:

Wine began work on the project four years ago, comparing the tastes of people here with those in New York, Las Vegas and Florida, where he considered building projects.

"New Yorkers are extroverts. Philadelphians like privacy... and larger units," he said.

So he came up with his plan for a gated riverside community, with a three-acre garden framed by the river and five buildings, arranged to avoid casting shadows on one another.

Wine said his research found many people who "like to be next to the city. They don't want to drive three-quarters of an hour or more to work, but they want quiet," he said.

And they want parking. "There will be plenty of parking, for the residents and their dinner-party guests, under the garden," as well as docks for the residents' boats, Wine said.

Sounds like LA, not Philadelphia. Blah, that's what most of these condo highrises are though.

The renderings show 2 different colors for the tower walls. Anyone know what kind of finish will be on the walls?
