^ Seriously, 2 starts this summer. Do any of these towers seem worthy of their own threads? How tall are they?

Anyhow, the LSE team definitely has their "shit" together in regards to timing their projects. Vista is coming close to wrapping up, so now is about time to begin launching a new tower. Also, perhaps I'm being presumptuous but if they are launching a new condo tower, that would suggest that Vista's condos are selling very well? Otherwise, why would they cannibalize one of their own projects?

Great news on the dual LSE projects. That hole is brutal imo. Glad to see it taken up with some okay looking buildings.

Also $400K starting doesn't sound so bad for 9ft ceilings, solid appliances, and luxury amenities. Wonder if they are micro-studios like 1000M is trying to sell or actual 1BR's (700sqft+)

I personally disagree. That's a pretty awful price for 400 square feet plus the HOA in that part of town.

1BR in LSE for $450k (since it's "mid-400s")? 700 square feet at that price would be just $642/SF, or around what 1BR units are listed for at 401 N. Wabash. Vista 1BR units are going for close to $1k/SF. I would bet on $450k starting for studios and I would be surprised if they have more than 500SF. Condo fees will probably start close to $1k/month.

When I lived in Chicago, whenever I would go downtown I would always try to make my way over to Lakeshore East. I really like how it's a part of downtown while still being a bit isolated. If I had a small family, I would look at LSE to plant my flag. Coast would be high on my list.

Glad to see this move forward but not thrilled with the overall look. The building appears to be big and bulky compared to its neighbor The Parkshore which appears more slender and elegant. That said I understand the developers desire to maximize lakeviews. Hopefully the finished product will be better than the rendering.

Both the black tower and related new tower are moving ahead simultaneously!
Man this street is gonna have a mini boom in its own in a few weeks!

A proposed amendment to Planned Development No. 867 and Planned Development No. 1300, submitted by Related 1061 Van Buren, LLC, for the property generally located at 1001-1111 West Van Buren Street. The site is currently zoned Planned Development No. 1300 and Planned Development No. 867. The applicant proposes to incorporate Planned Development No. 1300 into Planned Development No. 867, as amended, as a new Subarea D. The amendment would allow the construction of a 26-story (300’ tall) building with ground floor retail uses, 351 dwelling units, and 60 accessory vehicular parking spaces. The overall project FAR for Subarea D will remain at 10.15 FAR (19945; 25th Ward).

Nice updates! Good night Nobu has to be the slowest project for it's size in as long as I can remember. feel like it's taking longer than 727 West Madison which is 4 times as tall.

I really like how Union West plays off the design of the existing townhouses. Is it the same developer?
