I think you have things backwards. Spending $100 to $200 million on property to sell condos at $700 a square foot doesn't leave much room for curtainwall.

I like the large fins on Stantec (exactly like the Vancouver tower under construction and a few others) but the glass isn't that great. See Brookfield above for comparison; full height, no spandrel. It's an improvement on the CofE Tower.

I guess that makes sense.

That is why we can't be to picky about the towers we get here. We just get what we get just greatful for the quantity of construction I guess. (I'm ok with this trade off)

I fight it everyday. I have begun to see change ... but not much change in my pocket yet.

This article deep freeze will hold up a lot of projects currently under construction.

So don't look for change there.

architectsAlliance designed towers use the same crap window wall as Graziani+Corazza. Materials aren't as important in the grand scheme of things. Even the overall architectural concept doesn't really matter if the living spaces are barely functional and the planning side doesn't suit the environment.

How humiliating. Even Edmonton's got one in the top 10.

Stantec (251m) to the left, JW Marriott to the right (192m). For perspective, the Stantec Tower will be ~ x 2 of the City of Edmonton Tower in the foreground.

I was gonna go up to Yonge and Bloor and do an update from there, but too busy. Plus St. Patrick's day parade. Anyways, I'll do it tomorrow.
