Statesboro, Waynesboro and Pembroke Georgia

one small city and two towns in Georgia i traveled through frequently for work. thankfully all three have some nice old building stock that's managed to survive.

Statesboro - founded in 1803, pop about 30,000, it's home to Georgia Southern University.

Pembroke - population about 2,500, it's a classic railroad town, as the small CBD runs along the tracks.

Nice pictures. I've always wondered what Statesboro was like. Georgia Southern has been a powerhouse in 1-AA football, like Delaware, and the two school have met in the playoffs quite a few times.

Thanks for your shots of Statesboro, Waynesboro and Pembroke, GA.

Some houses in Statesboro are very pretty. I´ve liked the mural in your pic number 20. Georgia must be a very pretty and interesting state, as those towns show.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain!

I really like smaller towns/cities like this (particularly those in the 20,000-100,000 range). If you can find a good paying job (like becoming the town doctor or insurance guy or banker or some other type of business owner), I think it would be totally worth it to own one of those older stately homes. But I suppose you have to like that sort of small town mentality.

pretty much. i have an uncle in law who's the real estate/insurance guy for a big town (10000ish) of SC sadly he's not as interested in historic preservation as his mom is. i've personally pondered it but can't go below the 300-500,000 range.

it's interesting; for such a tiny downtown, it had a video store, Subway, chinese restaurant, pizza place, and mostly full storefronts. i wouldn't want to live there but it was nice to see that the town looked intact. being on the back end of Fort Stewart also probably helps.
