Madrid Supertour Part I: Aerials from the teleférico (cable car)

I am in Madrid for the rest of the summer and want to take advantage of my time here to show you photos of this city that I love so much. Because Madrid has so much more to offer than what I can fit in one thread, I plan to do a series about Madrid like the one I did about Boston (but larger and more extensive). Please enjoy the first part of my tour, which showcases aerial views of Madrid from the teleférico cable car that runs between the western part of the city and the Casa de Campo park / land reserve.

1) Looking south towards the Royal Palace

2) Looking southwest towards the mountains

3) South view over the M-30 highway

4)
5) The cluster of tall buildings in the center-right of the photo is the Plaza de España

6) Casa de Campo, north view

7) Another view north to the mountains

8) View southeast to the historic center of the city

9) Castellana towers rising in northern Madrid, which will clearly be the tallest in the city

10) View of western Madrid from Moncloa to Plaza de España

11) My favorite photo in this thread - another view of western Madrid

12)
13) Another of the towers rising

14) Spanish Naval building in Moncloa (near where I am staying) in the upper left corner of the photo

15)
16)
17) La Latina neighborhood, part of the historic center

18) M-30 northbound towards the mountains

19) M-30 southbound towards the city center

20) River Manzanares looking south to the palace

Nice photos !
Casa de Campo seems to be on the outskirts of the city.

Is it worth a visit ?

It is in the outskirts of the city of Madrid, but there are suburbs on the other side of the park/reserve so it breaks up the urban area a little. I guess in that respect it is similar to the greenbelt near London. Here is a link for a map in which you can see the location of Casa de Campo:
http://www.google.es/maps?q=Madrid,+...3186&z=11&om=1

I would say that it is worth a visit because the teleférico, zoo, and city amusement park (called the Parque de Atracciones) are all located there. These are all accessible by public transportation (bus and metro) and the cable car, of course.
