for what it's worth (not much)
I just had my southern friend (atl) in chicago this week. One of his major impressions from the crime, warehouses, lower level streets, brooding skyscrapers and rain was that it looked like a place where "the joker could actually be real"

not sure that's good
Something I just thought of, though, the grit and roughness was what really made the city.... something I could relate to? All the subway systems I'd ridden had been nice enough and modern (LA, DC, Atlanta, etc...). New York's was just there and screamed, "it's here to be use;," the grit just made it seem all that more legit.

It all did look like somewhere the Joker could exist, but the fact that it did so evoked a persona much too grand for my mind to wrap itself around.

New York is just immense, I think I could spend months in Manhattan alone.
I particurally liked your shots near the opening with the bridge, I can't remeber which one that is called. The Brooklyn and high line shots were great to, I've never seen those types of angles.

My objective had been to pretty much lose myself in the city. I did a pretty good job of it; I'd basically get lost each day and once I thought my journey had become monotonous enough I would find the nearest station (not by a map, just the first I came to) and figure out how to get where I needed to go (which was usually Grand Central, where I met my friend virtually each day). That whole process really helped me learn my way around. Once I did that, I felt much more in tune with the metropolis.

I've been contemplating going back up there once my classes let out, but my "mentor" is teaching a class about watershed planning and I want to help her out with it. Dunno, if things work out right, I might just make it back up!
