Looking good! Really like the new Scotia Square logo too. Now it's time to re-clad the horrible facade at Barrington and Duke to match the new glazing and get rid of those horrible 1990's windows.

These concepts were presented earlier this week at the Art of City Building Conference by Breakhouse. They are not an actual proposal but some design exploration that took place to see what can be done to update the building.

When I was driving by last night I saw something I hadn't noticed before (though I now see it's in Jono's last pic): there is now a indoor waiting area for the MetroLink buses.

Only for the Metrolink buses?

I think it is a bit too far north to be used by regular buses stopping closer to the corner of Duke St unless you are a good sprinter.

Remarkable that it only took 50 years to provide a waiting area out of the weather at the main downtown transit terminal. Hopefully the one across the street takes less time for that.

The entrance to the Delta around the corner has also added a piercing blue strip of LED lights around its entrance awning.

I would love to see the corner entrance and along Barrington St. livened up!!! It has ALWAYS been so drab.... The lighting at the top of the towers would be great also.... maybe rooftop restaurants???

Interesting. That video is from November and includes renderings I've never seen before. Brunswick Place and the newest incarnation of International Place, for example.

The video implies they'll renovate the corner of Barrington and Duke but it looks largely cosmetic. Ideally there would be more storefronts and entrances along Barrington, but given the layout of the complex (mechanicals by those vents, etc.) that might not be feasible.

The International Place footprint is incompatible with some already-published Cogswell redevelopment maps, but they were flagged as subject to change: https://www.halifax.ca/transportatio...opment-project

I have never seen any Brunswick tower rendering before. That will really cut down on the no-man's-land feel around Cogswell. Someday soon hopefully the lot next to Staples (where a church was torn down) will be built up with a tower too. It is conceivable that the northern boundary of downtown will be Cornwallis, not Cogswell, in 5-10 years. In that scenario Gottingen would feel closer to what Spring Garden Road is like today, but with a different mix of businesses. In some ways this is a return to what it was like before the 1970's.

The Westhill project was unveiled a while ago and was deemed to be too wide by HRM IIRC. Have not heard anything since then.

I am disappointed in International Place as shown. It appears to be a simple box reminiscent of the unattractive Cogswell Tower and does not look as tall as I had thought it would be.

Is all this AOR?

I prefer the original flatiron-style rendering for IP, but that new Cogswell tower looks incredible (and will eliminate that parking lot).

If the Trinity site gets developed, the north end will be much better integrated with downtown (even before the interchange is torn down).

That Brunswick/Proctor tower is really exciting. Replacing that parking structure would make a big difference to the feel of that end of Brunswick.

The International Place model doesn't look like much more than a massing model (compared to the detail of the Brunswick one). Seems like it's maybe it's much more conceptual at this point. Honestly, I think they'd be crazy to do anything there until the Cogswell work gets underway and there's an opportunity to adjust property boundaries to get the best building.
