Blue Lapis Lights will perform on the side of new IBC Bank building in Sept. for several nights. Kind of nice way to welcome the building to downtown.

Yes. This is the kind of thing that makes Austin unique.

Sizmek snags HQ space at new IBC Bank Plaza in downtown Austin

Sizmek Inc., a digital advertising company spun off from the former Digital Generation Inc., is moving its headquarters to Austin from North Texas and has signed a lease for 17,077 square feet at the new IBC Bank Plaza downtown.

The new lease reflects what many real estate brokers have been saying for the past couple of years: Austin is one of the hottest office markets for tech companies. In fact, CBRE Group Inc. ranks Austin as the No. 2 market in the country for tech growth with a 34 percent increase in jobs between 2011 and 2013. The company's recent tech report is available here.

I remember not too long ago they performed regularly across the street on the old Intel shell. I thought that was a very creative use of a failed construction project.

IBC Bank Plaza opens downtown; major tenants and restaurants inked

Oct 20, 2014, 2:11pm CDT

Jan Buchholz
Staff Writer-
Austin Business Journal

The new IBC Bank Plaza at 500 W. Fifth St. has opened and is 92-percent leased with several major tenants and new restaurants.

IBC occupies 27,000 square feet, including a retail bank branch and a variety of offices.

That group of experts chose HKS Inc. out of Dallas to design the building and J.E. Dunn Construction Co., a Kansas City-based company with offices here, to build it.

"I really give credit to Jamil and HKS. We wanted an iconic building that had floor plates of between 20,000 and 24,000 square feet," Barnes said.
