Looks like it passed over Northwest Ontario, Central Quebec, and Labrador already today, and currently cruising over the Mediterranean.
According to the website you linked it takes approximately 14 minutes to cross North America from the coast of Oregon to the eastern coast of Newfoundland.

Zoom!

LOL what makes you pick those two? I'm from Manitoba but have been doing a lot of work lately for the trough around Schefferville.

You can also use tools like this to find out when it will fly overheard at night. A pretty cool sight for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. I forget where it sits in terms of "brightest objects in the sky" but it's unmistakably the brightest moving object you'll ever see (outside of planes).

Also, those pics make me laugh. Who needs colour film in Canada in the winter? Just dark patches surrounded by snow.

My kids have viewed it very clearly from telescopes in their bedrooms. You could see the shape and some definition of it.

Yeah I've seen it fly over at night a few times before. Given the correct lighting reflecting off it from the sun it can appear extremely bright.

I saw it once, it was pretty eerie at first but then I remembered "oh yeah, we have a giant lab floating up there". It moves a bit faster than a plane does. It was only lit up for a moment and was gone.

Also, the images aren't "rotated 90 degrees to the right". They're "oriented to the west". That we make North the top of our maps is simply arbitrary. We used to make the top of our maps the east because that is where the sun rises.

I might as well post this here as well. It is a high resolution image of the entire planet:

Windsor, Chatham, Sarnia, and London from space.

Today Chris Hadfield tweeted a picture of Windsor from space. Also in the picture Chatham, Sarnia, and London can be seen.

I rotated the picture so North is on the top and uploaded it as well.

Detroit's urban area has 1300 sq/km and has 3.9 million people
Toronto's urban area has 1700 sq/km and has 5.1 million people

the differential in sizes pretty much equals out.

And toronto looks way more dense than Detroit. I don't get it actually.

Those are lake effect snow showers building over the lakes.

Calgary: So much sprawl even a picture from space can't fit it all in the frame!

The figures from demographia are quite different:

Toronto's urbanized area has 6,139,000 people in 2,286 sq/km.
Detroit's urbanized area has 3,724,000 people in 3,463 sq/km.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._by_population

Toronto's urbanized area is MUCH denser than Detroit's.

No, it's so that "down under" continues to refer to the correct location. Australia's influence on our culture knows no bounds.
