Sweet, sweet news.
Personally I can't wait until the base is done, and it's possible to get down to the park from Columbus again.
But it's going to be fun to see how the balconies turn out.

These were taken just before noon today. Did "official construction" start later in the day?

I'm not questioning BVictor1's judgment. He's proven to be extremely reliable. Construction may have started in the afternoon or I may have just missed it. It's a large site.

This is going to be the coolest tower to watch going up - from week to week we'll get to see these shapes developing.......

"Each unit will have four or five bedrooms and will range in price from 6.2 to 15 million dollars."

Well, even if Aqua won't be an only child for long, at least the buyers here are getting pretty great new design for a relatively bargain price.

Awesome to see this one roll! Congratulations to Studio Gang (Jeanne, if you're out there ).

The cool wave design really looks fit for Chicago.
Gonna be great seeing this one going up!

It seems like Magellan is getting this one underway just in time to start marketing their next big tower... hopefully the one we've been hearing rumors about.

Does anyone have current sales figure on Aqua? I know they're pretty darn solid. I think we'll be hearing an announcement of a new tower soon.

I don't know how current it is, but the LSE website has this for the Aqua update:

A consortium of financial service firms, including Eurohypo AG (New York Branch), LaSalle Bank and National City Bank, has arranged a $427 million construction loan for Aqua, the 81-story mixed-use tower headed for the northwest corner of Lakeshore East. Total projected cost for Aqua is $475 million. Groundbreaking is scheduled this spring for the unique tower that will blend condo residences (82 percent pre-sold), luxury rentals, deluxe hotel, retail and office space.

Not to be trivial, but there are three ways to look at it. . .

1 - Aqua has been under construction for a few weeks already. . . there are two caissons already in place. . . whether or not they were used as part of the tunnel grouting is academic. . .

2 - Aqua will start actual construction on Monday. . . the Titan was only assembled yesterday afternoon and no new caissons have been drilled yet. . .

3 - To Victors case, they have begun lacing the rebar in the forms for the first large caisson. . . which as I stated in #2 has yet to break ground. . .

Either way it has been a good week!!!

OK. . . so is it under construction or not???

perhaps. . .

hmm. . . sure looks like they're gettin' ready for something big. . .

This cap has been around a while. . . but wasn't dug by this bit. . .

This cap has been around a few weeks as well. . .

The rebar cage was done on Friday. . . lookin' good. . .
