LOS ANGELES | Concerto (2 Towers) | 335 FT / 102 M | 27 FLOORS x 2

Location: 9th Street and Figueroa Street
Function: Mixed-Use | 624 Units | 23,000 SF Retail | One Acre Urban Park
Developer: Astani Enterprises
Architect: DeStefano + Partners
Completion: 2009

Concerto

The foundation has been poured and construction has resumed on developer Sonny Astani's three-tower project at Figueroa and Ninth streets. The 348-unit first phase of the South Park development, which had stalled as Astani sought funding, will include a 30-story tower and a seven-story loft building, and 27,500 square feet of retail. It is expected to be finished in May 2009. A second 30-story tower will break ground by July 2009. Altogether, the project will create 619 market-rate condominiums ranging from 750 to 2,325 square feet. The buildings will wrap around a courtyard holding a 2,510-square-foot park.

Wow, talk about an old-fashioned thread revival! Here's the latest picture I have, from two weeks ago. The only thing that's changed is that they've removed the earth mover from the site.

There hasn't been any activity in this site for months, and the developer made some disparaging remarks to the press not too long ago, so there's some speculation that this project might be dead in the water. Guess we'll just have to wait and see - "wait" being the operative word...

This one has come back from the dead. I understand construction has begun again, at least on one of the towers.

Does anyone know the hieght of these towers?

The two towers are 27 stories/335 ft. each.

The smaller building will be 8 stories.

I noticed the USA Highrise Construction List (295+) has Concerto North Tower listed on the Site-Prep list. I'm not sure which one is now under construction, but shouldn't one tower be listed on the Site-prep List and one on the Construction List?

I'm new at this, so how is the change made?

I wonder why they installed the crane so early? I mean I thought they would be driving piles first. Owell.
