PHNOM PENH, Cambodia's big city

Previously :
Vientiane, Laos
Bangkok, Thailand

Now, this is part 3 of my south-east asian cities series! This thread covers Phnom Penh, the capital and largest city of Cambodia. This city has been to hell and back in the 70s, during the Khmer Rouge genocide. Nowadays, the scars of the past are less evident, and the whole place seems to be booming!

This tour covers pretty much the whole city, the center as well as the outlying neighbourhoods. It was so much fun to ride a bicycle in this chaos that i could'nt resist to explore the outskirts!

Here goes :

Thanks for watching! Coming up next : Ho Chi Minh City.

Beautiful. The US should pay reparations to the Cambodians for the war crimes that we committed there in furtherance of "democracy."

Love those last two pictures. One man riding an elephant and the other riding in a Range Rover.

Cambodia is EASILY the most under-rated country in the region.

Beautiful! Like a mix of simple/poor and modern. Guess it will be more of the modern in the future, just like in China and Vietnam. Anyway, underrated city.

Your tour brought back great memories of my trip to Phnom Penh 4 years ago. Barely controlled chaos with friendly people and great food is what comes to mind, good times. Boy was it hot and sultry the hotel's pool got used let me tell you.

Thanks for bringing back the memories.

Good pics in this and your previous threads.

I went on a broadly similiar trip around SE Asia over a year ago, but have yet to post them here!

Did you manage to go tubing in Vang Vieng and take a gander around Siem Reap?

I love the juxtaposition of old and new, run down and pristine. Great photos and a remarkable city. Thanks for sharing!

Great shots. I missed Phnom Penh when I passed through Cambodia last year. Glad I got to see it through your lens. Looking forward to HCMC.
