^ The NHL has always said Edmonton will host the all star game when ICE District is completed.

Maybe someone can define completed to me.

They still need to figure out what to do with the empty CWB space now that CWB is moving to Manulife Place, otherwise ICE District is pretty much completed. And last time I checked, there are 31 other NHL teams vying for the same NHL events as Edmonton.

Interesting chatting with a few Oilers season ticket holders at the game this past weekend who are pretty upset with the ~13% increase in prices for next year.

It also feels like food/bev have been inching up again.

Two draught and a (1) dog was $40 with tip.

I ain't tipping on arena food, especially when they keep jacking the price up year over year. Heck, I'd rather sneak food in a jacket then pay those outrageous prices.

Given what workers are often paid in those positions, I am happy to tip, but the base costs are getting out of control and so I will pre-game far more often than I would have in the past.

It should also be noted that Rogers Place used to have far more options and higher quality options when it opened, but now I find much is bottom of the barrel.

Hell, when you serve up a $23+ 'smash burger' that is not smashed and a frozen preformed things, you know that they are stretching things.

When I have gone to stadiums around the world, particularly US NHL, they often have significantly better options, more local product (beer especially) and not relatively token efforts in that regard.

Remember though that we're talking about Edmonton Oilers fans, who are willing to shell out thousands of dollars for Connor McDavid's used toilet paper.

Hey, we renewed...

But my disdain and distaste for professional sports pricing is getting close to a threshold where it means just watching things on TV.

We gave up our season tickets 10 years ago....I guess our tipping point was 2014. My disdain and distaste for professional sports in general is multi layered. Their constant wokeisum is completely nauseating and needless. And is pushing people away from Sports.

Oh yes, so much so that I see you misspelled 'wokeism' lol.

Professional sports are not 'woke', by the way, not even close.

If the Oilers really cared about community support they should be giving those decals and banners out for free. What a grift.

Totally, and you see that at Oilers games too of course with people still shelling out $15+ for a single beer. I opt for the $2.50 Tim Hortons as that is cheaper than water and won't bankrupt me lol

For the one, maybe two games I go to a year, I'll shell out for a beer or two. But my God, the prices are ridiculous for sure.

Maybe going forward, the wife and I will to go Joey's before the game and have a drink or two there and not at the game.
