No such thing as orphaned lots - just ask NYC, building 1200ft+, on 40ft or narrower lots.

Some people here can't understand that. They think you need half a block to be able to build anything on lol

I keep forgetting there's a thread for this. Anyhow, my repost from the downtown Vancouver updates thread. This is the 530 Drake site.

And across the street...

Yes they could build a skinny building there... However, the resulting density would still be less than if there was one building because of duplication: two lobbies, two boiler rooms, two electrical rooms, extra elevators, extra stair wells, etc etc versus one building.

The sidewalk for the new Covenant house building is really wide. I'm suspecting the City could be planning for a future street car stop here, as Drake at Granville is actually the terminating point for the previously-proposed streetcar route via Pacific Boulevard in Yaletown. The wide sidewalk space could be designed for a future stop shelter or terminal structure.

Now that the 1st building is finished, they've started to get the ball rolling on the 10 floor building across the street. They've wrapped fencing around a tree out front. I suspect construction will start very soon.

It's been renumbered as 1280 Seymour

Does anyone know if they've applied for permits for this new building. Are they planning on building on top of the existing building or completely starting from scratch?

1280 Seymour

Thank You in advance
