I'm figuring that the southwest crane will follow all the way up and the core crane will stay where it is today until it gets in the way of the hotel construction.

I haven't updated this in a few months. I may be off a floor or so.

I don't think anyone has answered this, but forgive me if they have. I took a hardhat tour of the building on Friday of last week (6/24), and they explained that the weighted barrels are meant to simulate the weight of the structural glass that will be hanging from the beams there. They want to see how the camber of the beams will react to the weight, just to make sure they have it right. So no, it's not a corrective measure, it's a test.

Nice diagram but it's missing one thing. Since it is showing the tower from the south side, there is cladding on that side in the base/podium area that extends from the back of the office lobby to the back of the hotel entrance. Here's a pic I took that shows it a little bit:

So the total height will be 350 meters, not 341.7 meters.

350.2 meters puts us neck and neck with Stratospere tower in Las Vegas. That makes the Comcast Innovation and Technology center the 10th tallest building in the United States!

CITC Spherical Panorama

Here's another, although it didn't quite achieve a perfect spherical effect:

Stratosphere tower does not actually count as a building. Observation towers never count because they are not habitable buildings and the CTBUH does not include them. They're considered "free standing structures."

Actually habitable buildings; there is none taller than CITC in the US outside of NYC and Chicago.

I haven't heard any official word on a height increase. As of now it's all rumors and hearsay. Until an official number is released which states other than the 1,121 FT number we've been given, the stats on the thread will stay the same.
