Telus is terrible. Sorry but I just hate it. I also kind of like the look of the college park twins but from what I've seen the materials look pretty low quality.
and I totally overlooked One King West. That is probably one of my top 10 favorites in the world. Very beautiful elegant building for sure. Just forgot about it as it was one of the first ones built in this boom.
and what the hell? Why the accusations of taking a swipe at Toronto? Just because the developers there put up cloned boxes doesn't mean I'm hating on the city. Obviously I was talking about "our towers" in the context of Toronto, since I currently live right outside the city(moving to Calgary tomorrow), and this entire conversation is about Toronto and whether or not at least half the towers built in this boom there are shit boxes. You guys don't think they suck, I do. The end?
Just because I don't like the shitty design standards(which isn't only centered on Toronto of course) doesn't mean I hate this mega-boom. Regardless of anything, a new residential/commercial building is better than a brownfield or a parking lot.

I've seen to other cities around the world with large amounts of residential highrises such as Hong Kong, other Chinese cities, Manila, Vancouver, Miami, Panama City, Brazilian cities, etc. When you have many (ie. hundreds of) towers going up at the same time period you're bound to have design element similarities and repetition. Every one of those cities I mentioned feature repetitiveness so when put in context I personally don't find what is going up in Toronto to be that bad.
It's fine if you don't like them, but for the most part I find the "boxes" to be of fair consistent quality. I've enjoyed much of the construction boom in the past decade, and how it has enhanced the downtown area and urban realm.
I study and record Toronto's current developments extensively so I know which architects and developers are good and bad. There is generally a noticeable difference in quality between the standard stereotypical box (ie. Casa, Burano) and the green glass condos that litter the waterfront. The main problem I have with recent new additions are cheap faux historicism creations and crappy suburban green glass schlock like this being built downtown:
