I agree with you 100%. 1250 is basically a 199 metre tall building with a 31 metre antennae stuck on top. We don't count First Canadian Place as being a 355 metre building so why do it for 1250!

Both of them are great too. Le 1000 and 1250 are in my top 10 for favourite Canadian skyscrapers.

Yeah I like the spire, makes me excited when I think about what's coming at Trump.

Hope the spire is something special.

Seeing the way that tower has turned out, I wouldn't get too excited.

Well the Onion Dome has turned out better than expected, I'm hoping there is a general upswing in momentum with regards to the design aesthetics of this tower.

A solid spire could give the entire skyline a nice lift from the flattop boxes we're use to seeing.

The spire will add some variety, but I think Trump is beyond saving, especially as I consider the spire (oniondome included) to be the tackiest part of the building. Maybe it will look different when I see it in person next year.

I also agree. And, the fact that even with the cheesy oniondome and spire completed, the tower will still be overshadowed by FCP and Scotia doesn't help. I will give Trump some credit for being the tallest building in this boom (so far...), and I feel that it is best appreciated when viewed from high above. Lets just say I'm much more excited about Aura, L-Tower, and 1 Bloor though!

Tallest in this boom? I don't even give it credit for that much

Having said that we don't set the rules (sadly). Just as the authorities that be have declared that spire to be part of 1250 official height. Besides there's not really much comparison between FCP's antenna to it. Clearly 1250's is ornamental in nature while FCP's antenna are functional and there's nothing pretty about them. Though arguably functionality is a little more important

As for Trump and the spire...
People seem to look at the the world in black and white rather than the shades of gray that it really is. As much as I don't like Trump on a whole, its still possible for me to appreciate a part of the structure on a building if it turns out well. Just as how its possible for me to appreciate a cities skyline regardless of the nature of the city itself or how it was possible for me to still care about an ex despite her being a total and complete bitch, lol.
The same context can be applied to a building as well.

Now some might think its tacky to begin with and fair enough. I haven't made a final judgment call on it yet. But its certainly shaping up to be more 'interesting' than the rest of the building.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind a spire like Trump Chicago on Trump Toronto.

Just with the LED of course.

The TIFF Festival is starting tonight and I'm hoping the Ritz is lit up like it was last year. I'll bring my Camera down to the King Street West Festivities so as to catch some shots of the action.

When I wrote that, it looked like the boom was ending.

But today and this weekend, there have been a rush on the 75 storey and 80 storey proposals.
