How would Toronto look like if the Financial District wasnt as dense?

Can you imagine if all the skyscrapers in this area were more spread out? Would Toronto's downtown look considerably bigger? If anybody could provide an illustration this would be great. Would it look better or worse do you think.

I wonder how Montreal would look like if it were more dense?

It would look less dense. What other answer is there?

This is actually a reasonable question. Right now most of the towers in the financial district block each other out, as viewed from outside the core. You only see little slivers of most of the buildings, if you see them at all. So if they were more spread out this skyline might be nearly as dense-looking, but be several times larger in extent.

Toronto would look several times larger than it does now, if the central towers were more spread out.

This was a popular thread topic 15 years ago. I think it's lost its relevance since as many tall towers have gone up outside the financial district extending the skyline in many directions and with multiple peaks.

It was worded funny, and considering how (as WhipperSnapper said) now the city has been building taller outside of the CBD the question wouldn't be as relevant.

However considering the taller bank buildings are for the most part concentrated on a 3-4 block stretch of one street (Bay), it would be interesting to see how much beefier the skyline would look with them spread out.

I think the real question we should be asking is what would downtown Toronto look like if it were populated entirely by pandas.

It will look a hell of a lot bigger and more impressive. Toronto has a lot of tall towers but due to being right up against one another, you have many tall ones you can't even see.

Mind you that maybe a good thing. The Trump Tower is very tall but with the other towers around it, it is barely noticeable. So I guess there are advantages to the high density of Toronto as the fewer angles of that monstrosity the better.

The skyline would look far bigger if CBD skyscrapers were spread out around the core.
