Completely agree. We need more of the opposite in each neighborhood to break up the monotony a bit.

Official topping out was in January, as of right now they are just doing the final concrete pours to form the top of the building, and that is close to being complete.

Correct me if I'm wrong but when they say topping off they are referring to the core being complete, but excludes the mechanical floors or in this case the lantern?

I was trying to compare to the render picture and it looks like a couple fancy mechanicsl floors. I cant tell where the penthouse ends and mech floors start. Is there a lounge or tenant space on top of the highest resident? I guess topping would be the roof of the highest tenant floor?

The definition of topping out is the completion of the highest structural feature. So generally in steel buildings its the last beam on the final floor, and in concrete buildings its either the core or the last deck pour.

In the end it's nothing more then a media event, thus why ground is broken on some projects and construction doesn't actually start until a while later, same with topping out; the "last" concrete pour/beam is completed but that doesn't mean that's the highest point, or last concrete pour or last steel beam that will be placed.

Looks like they are still errcting forms for the concrete structure at the top. Though it maybe topped out by the strict definition there is still a bit more height coming.

It looks like they updated some renderings to reflect the new design:

The renderings under the architecture tab show the bronze window elements, but they are missing in the video. Looks bland as sh*t without them, and I fear that's the version we are going to get

Agreed. More of that value engineering. The bronze would have made it pop. Thanks, Related. Though, the proportions are nice.

Why does anyone use Flash anymore?
