I <3 Shanghai it never fails to blow me away.

Such an impressive skyline, I love how it's just a sea of skyscrapers under 1,000 feet with 2 (soon to be 3) supertalls and one TV/observation tower standing tall above the city. Looks very sci-fi/futuristic

Does anyone know what height it has reached to date? The building even in construction phase looks spectacular - I hope the Discovery Channel make a documentary out of this as they did twice with the Shanghai World Financial centre - which is arguably the best looking Skyscraper in the world!

I believe the core is now just over 300m. From the vantage point that I see every day, the tips of the cranes appear just about level with the top of the Jin Mao building, but due to perspective I'd say they're actually a little lower than that.

My friend throws these rooftop parties along the Bund in the summer, and he asked me if I could take some pictures for him. The nerd in me managed to snag a bunch of skyline/Shanghai Tower shots while doing the predictable 'party people' photos.

Kind of a weird update.

^They're a good time. They do two a month from May-October. Totally unpretentious fun.

I love the WFC, but was never much of a fan of the Jin Mao. I have to say though, both look equally as incredible at night! When their big sibling is complete this will surely be the most beautiful city in the world, no? I would give anything to go to one of those rooftop parties for the view! ^__^

God damn Shanghai is SO COOL!

I think Jin Mao and the financial center make the best supertall pair in the world, can't wait to see this one join in!

I was in Lujiazui for dinner last night, and did a quick Shanghai Tower update while there.

I got a whole pile of Shanghai tower shots. Got to get off my lazy ass and post them before they get too stale.
