How many companies distribute gas to the city? Thunder Bay has a monopoly, so all the stations have the same price and it's usually higher than everywhere else, and since we get gas so infrequently, it can stay the same for a while before going up or down.

I bought a diesel a couple months ago for the fuel efficiency. My savings are now completely negated by the price differential.

It's 101.7 in Halifax and 102.3 in some of the rural areas outside the Municipality.

Gas in Vancouver seems to be still averaging around $1.09, because we have an environmental conscience. Cheap gas would turn Vancouver into an environmental and traffic nightmare.

I would so forgive the Ontario government right now if they introduced a five cent per litre tax on gasoline to be used to pay down debt or deficit. Maybe with a promise to eliminate the tax if oil prices rise above $80 per barrel.

Heating is central and included in your condo fees? That's weird; is it an older apt building that got converted?

Yup. It is a century old factory that was converted into condos. We have individual air handlers but the heating/cooling is central.

According to Statscan, 16,410,257,000 litres of Gasoline were purchased in Ontario last year. at 5 cents/litre, that comes out to $820,512,850. Nothing to sneeze at, but also not going to put much of a dent in our $288 billion debt. Might be better to just let the consumers ride out the benefits.

That's why whenever I drive westward, I always stop for gas on the Tyendinega reserve near Belleville. And then fill up there again on my way back. I avoid getting gas in Kingston whenever possible.

Gas prices keep falling across Canada yet what is the price I paid this morning? 101.7 - the same as last Friday....

NS really needs to scrap gas regulation - it already adds 5c/L to our bills here. I can tell you that the 5 cents/L is definitely not going towards paying our balloning deficit down.

How does gas regulation in NS works? Here in Ontario, the NDP in the 2011 election campaign proposed as gas price regulation mechanism where gas prices had to be within 1% (either above or below) of a rate that would be set by the government every Sunday and be in effect for the whole week. It's intent was to make prices predictable for people over the course of a week.
