I've lived in Van (specifically, the Dub V) my whole life but now I go to school on the island. I was looking for info on the canada line and this forum kept showing up in google images. I spent waaaaaaay too many hours reading threads from the start, then joined. Then I tried posting on SSC thinking it was SSP and I couldn't register and got really confused. Now I know the dif tho

Alright, I guess now that I'm nearing 200 posts (I think?) I should post something about myself.

I'm in my last year in business (marketing, entrepreneurship, and management and technology) at SFU. I take courses both in Surrey and Burnaby, and have been watching developments shoot up around these areas, as well as around where I live (South Granville). I'm hear for the miraculous volume of information you guys all have about development in the city, and hope to be able to chime in more often with information as I discover it. Hopefully I can give the forum a unique business perspective.

Edit: 209! Gah how time flies!

Welcome to the forum (as a non-lurker)! I look forward to your future photo contributions. Should be plenty to watch for in Surrey in a few years.

I'm an immigrant, been living in Montreal for 4 years now so I checked "elsewhere in Canada".

I've been considering moving away for the past year or so -- likely I will come back to Montreal at some point, but I'd like to experience the rest of Canada for a bit first. I have had my sights set on Toronto all along but a really interesting job opportunity in Vancouver popped up two weeks ago. I know very little about the city so I've been lurking around for the past few days to get a sense of what I might be getting myself into should things work out... I mostly like what I'm seeing so far

Thanks Spork!

It's tough since I've spent a year researching and taking week end trips to Toronto, and now my plans are sort of thwarted... oh well. I guess by mid June I should have an answer. Exciting times!

To be honest, it won't really help when your in the city but it might be a plus for your career.

I am moving to Vancouver from Montreal, my wife got a job teaching at UBC, and since I am a TV and video director, I think this move could prove very interesting career wise.

Well, I am now in Vancouver!

We are renting a small flat in Kerrisdale. Rose gardens everywhere. 41st street reminds me of Bernard street in Outremont. Very clean, interesting boutiques.

Went to Kitsilano beach during the weekend, very sexy beach indeed!
Jazz festival, Yaletown, free concert of Delhi 2 Dublin, we jumped a lot, the concert ended to early, 9:30 , but was a gorgeous evening, went to Chinatown and Gas Town with Portland friends.

People are very friendly. I make a lot of contacts with accessible people.

So far, I am loving it.

Hope to work in the film or TV or advertising industry soon. I am going as extra on an independant movie shoot tomorrow.

Will be interesting.
