Those drills could be to install the shoring system to support the excavation. I guess we will find out soon.
Regardless, it is great to see this starting.

Yes it is for shoring, as the actually foundation is quite a bit deeper.

Depending on the quality of the glass and whatever the black cladding will be, this one could easily be the nicest 200+ meter tower in the country, or at least in close competition with The Bow.

IMO this will be nicer than the Bow...maybe not the concave side of the Bow....which I love, but the tower as a whole. It'll arguably be the nicest taller tower in the country.

Yeah. I'm also excited to see the public amenities such as the piano performances, restaurants, and just the lobby in general. Also really hoping I can make friends with someone living in the tower

Hopefully this will spur the redevelopment of the lot on the east side of the Palomino. I'd love to see a thin 8 storey hotel on that lot.

Sorry to have posted half the comments on this page so far, but just wanted to mention that it looks like the caisson drills/shoring rigs (whatever they are) are almost done. Lots of work going on in prep for excavation.

So excavation ready to start? That's exciting!

Wow, that was fast! IIRC the timeline for digging was around February, so that makes sense.

I'm not certain, but I'll confirm when I'm in the area today or tomorrow if any actual digging has started yet. The caisson drills looked to have gone around the whole site, that's all I know.

Anyone else think this building could serve as a catalyst for mixed use in the core?

Would be great to see more mixed use directly in the core.

Awesome. Whatever the case may be, I'm sure digging will be soon.

There is a definite trend to mixed use, and guaranteed that if this one works, there will be lots more.
