Sounds like a pretty accurate timeline and map layout, although I wish it were a bit faster than that.

If there's going to be an LRT link to EIA sometimes in the future, I think there'll probably likely be a stop in or near Leduc. Leduc will probably have grown significantly over the next 20-30 years, though not as fast as St. Albert or Sherwood Park.

However, I find it laughable that ETS can do bus service to Spruce Grove, but not to Leduc and EIA.

ETS is paid by Spruce Grove to provide bus service to them. It's not like ETS is doing it as a value-add service for ETS customers...

ETS to EIA should be a no-brainer... but this city seems to be missing a few brains cells over the years.

Yeah, I sure as hell do agree, and so would others here in this forum. But....*very exasperated sigh*

but not only for the zoo, for laurier park, the river, etc.

how awesome would it be to get off an LRT and bam, river valley

no brainer yes

opportunity cost, no

we need a WLRT and SELRT far before a YEG LRT

Ridership figures just do not justify it. Not at all....How many million are you going to spend for a stop that has no one waiting for a train there in the dead of winter?

142 st will be underground still.

The portal will happen west of the traffic circle. Hence why I've choosen 146th street.

Perhaps the zoo could use shuttles to and from 146 Street stop during peak zoo-going season? I see the convenience factor with a river valley stop, but I dont see it being justified.

^146st is a bit far to walk from.... 142st not as much and a logical crossing point/station point.

plus, if people can't walk from 146st, they sure aren't going to be that much more inclined to walk from 142st either

They could arrange Camel rides or Elephant Rides up the hill from the zoo to an LRT stop. Put those animals to use!

That's funny, your response works for both mine and Feeps' comments.

So judging by those radii, the Meadowlark stop would be at 159 Street now? I personally think it should be closer to 156. More residential high-rises at that corner of Meadowlark. Sure, it would be nice to have Brewster's right off the platform, but if you're looking for TOD, look at what you've already got in the vicinity of 87 and 156, not 159...

Agreed. I also think the zoo could become a node of reinvestment in our river valley. Sorry for wandering OT, but imagine if our river valley featured a revamped zoo and possibly an aquarium to go with our new Muttart, new RAM, new Rossdale development, new patios along LMP... You could travel from one end of the river valley trails to another, and be able to stop and do something worthwhile every 1-3 kms. That would be a way to showcase our city's attractions.
