July being almost over, is there any evidence of moving forward on the second tower? I'm too lazy to climb the hill and look.

Nope. One of these days, though, I'm going to walk up that hill and those Bovis trailers will be moving.

However, they are preparing to install the nicer retaining wall facade:

That's just as good as a 541' tower, right? Right? Who's with me??

It looks like they are going to leave the crummy old wall there and just cover it up with some nicer looking masonry. I was expecting a solid poured-in-place wall.

I'm with ya p.g.

My guess is they're keeping the old wooden wall there to hold all the dirt, and when the concrete wall is done, they'll remove the wood and allow the dirt to settle against the new wall. At least thats what I'd like to see.

One Rincon gone to pot already:

Judging by the bolts here I imagine that they will take the new wall segments and just bolt them on here.

Not with that foundation they poured. With no rebar going into the ground and no solid tie of the above ground structure to the foundation, as a retaining wall it isn't likely to be more than decorative.

I seemed to have missed that detail actually, thanks for pointing it out. I did see some sections of a wall down near the Fremont St. freeway exit a while back. Are those the sections to be installed?

It's sooo nice to see this much green go into a development in SF.. especially when its not simply a bunch of palms.. this will really be a little forest.

Mark Choey at SF New Developments posted some photos from the 60th floor. Here are a couple. There are more at the link above.

Those don't look like bolts, they look like studs that would be used to tie the new poured wall into the old retaining wall.

Very nice building! I was in San Fran 2 weeks ago and driving on the I80 to the bay bridge I didnt realize this monster was right next to the freeway. Is there any issues with noise from the condo owners who have units facing this busy freeway?
That is insane!

Nice job SFO! I shoulda went in and got the condo package for this project.

Yes, too many pots indeed! Usually site landscaping is pitiful and skimpy, but the contrary seems to be the case here: an overabundance of young plants. How are they expected to mature and make a statement? Surely there are way too many for that concrete-lined median strip. Perhaps they'll be moved someplace else.

None of those ended up out front. They were just being staged there. I assume they are now in various common areas.

Hmm, early August came and went. No construction on the second tower and no update. I suppose they have no clue when this second tower will actually start construction, hence the lack of an update.

I have noticed that there is some covering on the cement wall on tower one (which will touch the 2nd tower). I can't tell if this is a sign of the second tower about to be developed or if its just some finishing work on the first tower. I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up.

Here's a visual:

Looks to me like this was installed so some form of finishing work (paint perhaps?) can be done on this side of the building. This could be a bad sign. None of this face will be exposed, so why bother finishing/covering it unless the second tower isn't happening for awhile?

They've got a lot of the forms up now. I sure hope they ended up going with the bridge relief design:
