Thumbs up May Visit To NYC Doesn't Disappoint

Hello All,

Well, I took a trip to visit one of my college buddies in NYC in May (weather was gorgeous), and had a fabulous time in The City. I'm currently working about 4 hrs. away from there and have had time to do some local travel. While I miss NOLA, it was a genuine pleasure to visit New York. In my experience there, New Yorkers were friendly and helpful. It was also nice to have an old friend show me around.

And so, I thought I'd post some photos of my week there, that I hope you guys will enjoy. For you New Yorkers out there, please feel free to correct any of my captions to these photos. And thank you for having me in your fair city. I hope you guys will enjoy my shots...I don't claim to be a great photographer.

My first view in Manhattan, emerging from Port Authority

The first set of shots I took on the Circle Line Boat Tour. This was $35 well spent. A 3 hour ride around Manhattan, what a treat...

Leaving the West Side near 44th Street, I think..

Cruise boat

Driving range

Freedom Tower rising

Lady Liberty

I believe the PA announcer said the building on the right in this photo was a new skyscraper

I like this one

I believe this is one of Trump's buildings?

Later in the week, via my friend, I was invited to a rooftop wine party at I believe, 75 Wall Street. More photo ops for the tourist...

I like this one too

Obligatory Empire State Building shots

MoMA anyone

Night falls, but the city never sleeps

Me at Strawberry Fields, Central Park, NYC, Peace everyone.

Great shots, that tour certainly looks worthwhile! I'll have to remember that next time I'm in New York City!

The scale of Manhattan never ceases to amaze me, I mean in Chicago you can walk on Michigan Ave for 2 miles and see nothing but highrises, but in Manhattan you can walk for 2 hours and see nothing but highrises, it's just amazing and you captured that scale beautifully in those shots.

I'm moving to NYC next month for a year I can't wait

Thank you guys for all the kind words. Again, New York City was simply a pleasure to visit. And yes, the rooftop wine party may have been the highlight for me. Although I did get to go to a charity event at the Downtown Association which was a lot of fun too. What else? Great drinks at the Waverly Inn, Gramercy Park Hotel, and some other bars which I simply can't remember. My buddy has been in NYC for about 12 years, and he certainly showed me a great time. Oh, I bought a custom-tailored shirt at Louis Purple (souvenir for myself) which I highly recommend as well. Just nice people everywhere I went. Got the metro card for the week, which was also well worth it, and the locals when asked were happy to tell me where to get on and off the subway when asked.

All in all, NYC lived up to my every expectation and I will most certainly visit again. Thanks again guys.

nice job + you got a good friend.

my next door neighbor has worked in central park for over 30yrs and he has had the lennon imagine section most of that time. he has to clean up all the stuff people leave on the imagine mosaic everyday. so as you might, umm, imagine, it's often lots of drugs and even people's ashes!!!
