This is why I love SSP so much. Shorter manny santos: "Why does Mexico suck so much? I'm not saying it sucks, but why does it?" The earnestness of the question and the complete obliviousness concerning the kind of people this brings out of the woodwork is what makes this site a beautiful disaster of a place.

I find it both humorous and aggravating that certain people on this forum discuss nearly every topic on this website (particularly in the City Discussions and Current Events subforums) as if its serious business.

Then again, people like ed and all of the trash (who I'm convinced is a reincarnation of banned forumer echo park/tmnt mask) purposefully go out of their way to be assholes.

Considering that I am/was like that, I'd like to think that thanks to medication adjustments and a better psychological diagnosis/treatment, I've mellowed the fuck out in the past year or so.

That said, this place is sophisticated as fuck compared to the what's out there on the rest of the internet...

I question whether half of the people who camp out in CE actually have jobs.

Judging by the tone of some of the people who frequent that subforum, apparently there's no need to work in Canada (and possibly elsewhere) because everything there is perfect.

Why is that? Because the US sucks, that's why.

Recent events in Skybar have me seriously considering leaving that subforum as well.

My dad does... I think it's just that it's close, similar time zone, cheap property, hot, doesn't rain, and of course it has golf courses.

Damn, I'll tell them to take Thunder Bay off their list.

Well, I believe the workmen are gone (from my unit, at least), now I just have to wait for the rest of the building to be complete so they can get the plasterers and painters in here. That could still be weeks from now. Today I get to clean up massive amounts of dust and debris. Not only were the workers using my toilet but the last few days they've left my back door unlocked which pisses me off since I don't always come home right after work. Last night I came home at 10:00 PM only to find the door unlocked, I've already been robbed once

I just want this all back again....

One good thing to happen is my waste-of-human-flesh supervisor FINALLY hired a co-worker for me and he's working out great. Maybe it's time to get my blood pressure back to normal.

I can't believe how many owls I can hear lately from my back deck, both night and day. I don't recall ever hearing them in town at all before. In the last few months I can usually hear up to 9 or 10 calling to each other but tonight, as I was standing out there, I could hear only one, it was pretty close and it was making a different, more sinister call. Then it got quiet for just a second before I heard the most ungodly, terrified, painful screeching in the yard below......goodby Mr. Kitty.

....Time to come in the house.

Do you live near a car dealership? Our Kia dealership has about 15 two foot tall owl statues on the roof and a couple loudspeakers that play bird noises at well over 80db. It's kind of absurd.

There's a car dealership down the hill a few blocks away but no owl staues or recorded bird noises.

Is that supposed to keep other birds away?

I'm probably about to get kicked off SkyscraperCity for bitching out Chicagogeorge after a round of "Chicago's dying, let me post some graphs for you," but if so, it was worth it. I hate naysayers like that, especially ones who move to the suburbs and proceed to bitch out the city they just left.

SkyscraperCity is junk compared to SSP anyways.

I thought most car dealerships had these. Well, the fake birds are usually of normal size, but I thought most outdoor car dealerships had things to keep birds away from the cars.

The only fake bird noises I know of in Calgary are at the C-Train stations.
