San Antonio should be called THE BIG MYSTERY

I was thinking about this the other day when I was doing some research.
I know that this city has other nick names but I came up with the name I did because were a growing city of over 1.4 million and counting and plus alot of people as familiar with us as they are other cities. I know that there are plenty of people nationwide who does know about us we do get alot of tourist.

You know what, what a coincidence but I was thinking the same thing over the last week. Most big cities have nicknames like Chicago/The Windy City, New Orleans/The Crescent City, Las Vegas/Sin City, and New York/The City That Never Goes To Sleep. This may sound stupid or cool. How about The Art Capital of The South, or San Antonio: The Birth of Unique.

However, I DO LIKE The Big Mystery

Oh, before I forget, how about The Only Major City Without a Tall or Supertall Skyscraper, tee hee!

Kevin is right. Growing up in SA I heard "The Alamo City" and "River City" thousands of times.

I was about to ask if this was a "what if" in case the Alamo or Riverwalk disappear or somthing.

Alamo City is just fine.... not too many of those around.

Northerners would never get that one. They'd probably read it as 'tequila'.

I kind of like the Big Mystery. My vision of San Antonio from a recent & quick visit is 'magical'. Sounds corny, but that is how I felt. Something about the Riverwalk being a bit hidden and constantly being discovered. You can walk down the street and then look down and see a magically beautiful spot - again and again as you go. It is like walking through the looking glass from the normal world to a special place. And even on street level, downtown San Antonio seems to promise something special around the corner. Also, I loved the missions, including the Alamo. And the missions add a mystical, spiritual, magical element if you know what a I mean. As a northerner, I found there is something mysterious and magical about being immersed into a completely different style, culture, colors, etc.

I think y'all should stick with "Alamo City". There is SO MUCH more to S.A. than just the Alamo but it is really something special. What it stands for and the fact that you can probably count on one hand the battles world wide in history that are of such romantic, and legendary status. And to be able to have that right there front and center in such a great city is really special.

I know exactly what you mean; it is quite different. Its nice to travel every now and then to get that "feeling."
