You do know that this particular SKYSCRAPER page doesn't much care about height. And if you do, you're somehow hating.

Before the Frost Bank Tower in Austin was built, there was already a taller building outside of San Antonio carrying the Frost Bank name. Corpus Christi's 3rd tallest is taller than the headquarters building, and there are buildings in Houston and Dallas that rival its height as well. The company is going to take whatever space is available in the market they're in. It isn't a snub to San Antonio or any sort of comment on the prestige San Antonio can have.

Dallas holding company becomes partner in Frost Tower development

Quote:
TRT Holdings Inc., a multibillion-dollar Dallas company that owns the Omni Hotels and Resorts chain, has joined the development team for the new Frost Tower, a proposed 23-story skyscraper that’s expected to transform west downtown.

...The Frost Tower was originally set to start construction by the end of last year. Smith declined to say what caused the delay. The tower still needs final approval from the city Historic and Design Review Commission after getting preliminary approval in July.

Weston Urban bought the site of the tower in December from Frost Bank, which will occupy about 250,000 square feet of its space for its new headquarters. The firm has received a city permit to start excavating the site and prepare the building’s foundation...
Gasp. Could they... wishful thinking... but could they??

Man, I sure hope so. I'm happy for the project to happen, but I would love to see this taller and slender.

I know that pattern on the glass is probably caused by aliasing and is unintentional, but it think it looks cool and adds interest! Would be cool to incorporate that into the design...

I don't know... it looks pretty intentional to me. It looks too perfect to be an accident. I have been known to be wrong, though.

Remember this "massing"?? this image depicts a 500ft building. I wonder if this was conceptualized with a top portion that included a hotel....It would be really nice to get back to this size "mass".

Yeah that was a good massing. But with the architecture we are getting i'm okay with it. It's almost the exact height of the BofA tower.

I heard the construction fencing should be going up soon. I don't think there was anything scary causing the delay, just bureaucracy

Yeah, downtown is about to start getting busy with a lot of these projects beginning construction. The Frost, Cambria, Canopy, and Thompson should more than likely all be using tower cranes. It's going to be fun to watch their progress.
