It looks as if the additional Speedbird was to have departed yesterday...but, had some sort of problem. It departed ABIA at 4:16 p.m. today just as the normal BA191 flight was arriving from LHR.

In any case, there are two Speedbirds headed toward LHR, from AUS, at this very moment.

When I came across that tidbit I posted yesterday, I also saw in a business traveler forum that a Dreamliner broke down here. The plane was supposed to go on a different route after getting back from Austin and the complaint was actually about the people expecting to fly on the Dreamliner but instead they ended up on a 777. Apparently they weren't happy about the response from the BA staff as they told them they were lucky that there was a plane available at all or their flight would have been canceled.

I'm sure it's fun flying in a new plane but I'm not gonna get torn up about it. A plane is a plane, as long as it gets me to my destination in one piece I don't care what type it is.

Yes, for those who weren't expecting to ride on one of them yesterday. For those who were, it was a long delay for them, and definitely uncool.

If Jdawgboy is correct, the Aug. 12 outbound passengers may have only had a few hour delay. A B777 may have been able to ferry them to LHR that night while the B788 was being repaired. Possible...but, I cannot confirm it.

I think the people here trying to get to London were here overnight and left when the mechanical issue was fixed. The 777 was the replacement for the people in London that were supposed to be using the Dreamliner to get to another destination. I can't remember the name but it wasn't in the U.S.

Okay I see, it was here in the U.S. then. I didn't recognize the city code.

July 2014 was the first million-passenger month in airport history

I'd expect the Infill curtain wall to be up within the next week or two as well.

Goodness, and nothing really happens as far as big events in July so this was purely business and vacation travel. I'd be very interested in seeing August numbers to see if we stay over a million or fall back below.

Question regarding British Airways. When they post the numbers they don't add a percentage. Is it because they only compare from a year ago and since they stated in March they don't have numbers?

City best get that terminal expansion underway ASAP...

By the time it's built we will be at 16MM... time for next expansion. But this is Austin where we always trail growth to a fault.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't council approve the east terminal expansion? Its supposed to start soon. After the customs I think.

Yes, you'll notice that Allegiant Air also doesn't have a percentage. It'd be kind of... Weird to calculate a percentage as in "up x% from 0 passengers last year"

Construction is slated to begin in 2015 if I'm not mistaken, though I have no idea what part of 2015

July has always been ABIA's busiest month. They haven't posted the July detailed activity report yet (just the press release) but if you look at June's report

http://www.austintexas.gov/sites/def.../June_2014.pdf

scroll down to page 4 and look at the chart. Those different colored lines represent different years. For each of those colored lines, you'll notice that July is always the the peak. August always falls back some because school starts and family vacations are over.

I doubt August will break the million mark.
