Probably F1. Check this out on COTA's FB site:
http://circuitoftheamericas.com/blog...arrive-at-cota

They are coming in earlier this year; there is no race the prior 2 weeks, plus I think they are trying to test some new system to automatically limit the speed of the cars under yellow flag conditions. This is due to the horrible accident which happened to Jules Bianchi in the Japanese GP.

So anyone know when the other F1 related big cargo planes are coming in? Someone posted a comment on the FB page that there is another one coming in tomorrow. Might be time to start checking FlightAware....

That's happening this coming up March. The schedule change for next winter means they are upgrading indefinitely to 777-200s. Interesting that they are downgrading the other two destinations.

Here's probably the crappiest picture I've ever taken, featuring the flyover

And a significantly better one of the terminal expansion

It was posted in this forum that BA's revenue B772's could be flying into Austin as early as this January as the company begins to MOD their fleet of B788's in California.

At that time, it was perported the B772's would be replaced by BA's B789's as soon as they become available. The B789's cargo hold is slightly larger than that of the B772/772ER (5400 cu.ft. vs. 5330 cu.ft.). And the difference in number of passengers (three classes) is roughly 20 between the B789 and B772 (B772 being the larger).

Here is a detailed article about the upcoming changes next year. Take a look at the chart in the link. Things are looking great for our first trans-Atlantic route.

http://www.routesonline.com/news/29/...n-winter-2015/

Quote:
British Airways (BA) looks set to deploy its Boeing 787 Dreamliners on its routes from London Heathrow to Montreal and Seoul Incheon, according to its draft flight schedule for the winter 2015/2016 season, although it has since emerged the changes could take effect as early as March 2015 for the summer 2015 schedule. The tentative network changes were included in the latest update of OAG Schedules Analyser and also sees the carrier’s recently launched link to Austin being upgauged from a 787-8 to a 777-200ER.

First reported by our schedules blog, Airline Route, the initial plan for summer 2015 and winter 2015/2016 shows BA switching the operational aircraft on these three routes from March 29, 2015. Its daily London Heathrow – Seoul Incheon route and six times weekly London Heathrow – Montreal link will be switched from 777-200ERs to the 787-8, while the daily London Heathrow – Austin service will see a 787-8 replaced by a 777-200ER.

The proposed aircraft switch on the London Heathrow – Austin route shows the initial success of the route. Our analysis shows that over its first six months of operation on the London Heathrow – Austin route BA was already securing loads of between 70 and 75 per cent. According to MIDT data from the launch of the route on March 3, 2014 until August 31, 2014, BA had an average of 72.7 per cent occupancy on the US bound flight and 75.8 per cent on the return service to the UK.

What's going on???

Can someone with inside knowledge tell me/us why the port has put the gate expansion off by one year (and delaying the opening of the east infill to Spring 2016)?

Furthermore, should the port grow by 6% per year (with its current number of gates), it will reach the 15 million passenger mark by the end of 2020 (not 2025 as the port's assistant director indicated).

Austin airport to add seven gates to eastern wing.

No kidding! This is pushing the original time table out even farther than before, is the city and airport staff in charge incompetent? I would assume that we will be close if not at 10,500,000 passengers this year. Assuming growth continues at its current rate, we will hit 11 million by the end of next year and expansion won't start till the year after???. Austin loves making a mess of things that don't have to be.

Preconstruction phase services (concurrently with design) is anticipated to extend until mid-late summer of 2015, at which time the construction manager will be expected to propose a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) proposal for the first phase of construction. It has not yet been determined the number of phases or GMP proposals for construction. Completion of all work is anticipated to be mid-2018.
So until Summer 2015, it's quite possibly all design effort. Looks like they are being cost/risk-adverse at the expense of speed.

Monday's going to be nuts? Any official word on heavy charter equipment coming in? The race next weekend is in Brazil (São Paulo).

From what I've seen. Atlas Air has 3 747s coming in. 5Y8438 from Chicago landed this morning. 5Y8440 is enroute from Miami. 5Y8436 is enroute from Columbus, Ohio. Singapore Airlines has a cargo 747 enroute from DFW as well, SQ7198. All of these are trackable on FlightRadar24
