Huge! As if the sea would cover the city! The city enclosed by the sea!

Looks great! This is a fairly wealthy region - lots of shipbuilding and maritime families up there. Alesund looks alot better than I thought it would, especially given its relative remoteness. IIRC, much of the town burned down in a fire, and was subsequently rebuilt in Jugendstil (German-influenced Art Noveau) architecture.

Thanks for your pics, pallo!

I´d like to visit such a pretty town beside the fjords. Alesund is a lovely and quaint town.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain!

Kinda boring. Could use a more dramatic setting.

Love this place, does look very well off. All of the buildings look fresh with hardly any faded paint. Must have been pretty dark though being that far north in January.

Looks bigger than it really is. And that's Jugendstil just the way I like it, a bit rough and simplistic with no extra abundance of this and that.

Wow. Beautiful My company bid on some work that would have put me in nearby Trondheim for much of 2011, but it didn't come to pass. Disappointed as I was at the time, this doubles it. Triples it.
