There are a few. I grew up in KC suburbs, then after college and before grad school lived in midtown and then the plaza. Haven't lived there since 1989, but visit family at least once a year. Unbelievable how much better the downtown is - still needs work, but has regained a sense of place, which had been lost.

I have a very strong attachment to the area.

Woodrow, thanks for chiming in. Good to hear from someone with connections to KC. I lived in KC (Brookside) many years ago for a few years. In those days, there was little reason to go north of Crown Center. I was really excited to see how downtown KC & nearby areas have change. It is a different city.

Kansas City is looking pretty good. I really should make a trip to explore the other side.

KC, MO and the Edge of Hell

Thanks, Expat for another lovely tour! I've been to KC, Mo and KC, Kansas as my mother was born there. It's been years, so this was a nice refresher. @ Sterlippo1, I hope you get your wife, Mary to go with you. I'm sure she'll find it's a beautiful place, with many attributes.

Thank you so much for these nice pictures, Expat!

I´ve liked them very much. I´ve liked the one with the rocket with the colours of TWA and the pictures of the city.

Kansas City looks beautiful.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain!

Thanks for all the great comments!

Danny, you always say such nice things!

Does anyone know the story on the TWA rocket?

That was TWA Corporate HQ and at least some kind of offices for a time.

I'm from Manhattan, about 110 miles away, and being the next major metro over I get over there quite a lot.

I was born here, and I'll be studying Regional & Community Planning at KSU on - Monday! - with hopes of becoming a transportation planner.

KSU is actually in Manhattan, but my roomate is from Overland Park, which ranks as one of Kansas' largest cities. Most KC-metro folks end up in Missouri or KU, in Columbia or Lawrence, respectively.

I don't think I have ever seen pictures of Manattan, KS. Maybe you could take some pics and post a thread one of these days.

I was just thinking that walking around campus this afternoon. Manhattan has a ton - I mean, A TON of native stone classic limestone buildings. I'd love to show off my hometown sometime.

Somehow I've never been in Manhattan proper, but have admired the landscape nearby.

I love KC - great city.

I've always thought Quality Hill was really cool, although the people I know who are from KC don't seem to think much of it for some reason.
