I'll be there in two weeks. Buffalo/Niagara Falls has become my adopted second hometown.

Should be 6-7 tower cranes total up this summer. Been a while since we even saw 1 tower crane, let alone half a dozen.

My Brother pointed out how the new development downtown has bled into the neighborhoods. A lot of the buildings on Broadway, Clinton, and Genesee are being rehabbed. New houses and renovations in the first ward. In the past 4 months most if not all of the available properties in the first ward have been purchased (neighborhood rumor). Kind of cool what is happening though.

Recently I'd guess. The ice cover on Lake Erie has been brutal this year. Many years it never freezes, this year there was record ice.

I work on in downtown near the waterfront and walk around there daily, the ice just melted in the past two days in the inner harbor. Its 70 degrees for the next few days, so it won't last long.

Great photos, I can tell a big difference in the past 5 years I've been here. The city has truly woken up from an economic sleep.

Great to hear for Buffalo! Does HSBC still have a large headquarters there?

HSBC has downsized significantly. HSBC got caught in a terrorism laundering scheme some time ago, and it encouraged the company to sell its retail banking in the US. They've divested and sold their retail banking operations; however, they still maintain a commercial and investment bank presence HQ'ed in NYC. There are significant offices still in Buffalo; however, they've abandoned the highrise they once occupied and now reside exclusively in a smaller building one block south of the former tower.

HSBC USA is no longer HQ'ed in Buffalo, but it has significant back-offices and operations for what is left of the bank here. Since they are no longer in retail, they mostly serve high end commercial and investor clients. They still operate a huge credit card business in the states.

THE PHOTOS WERE TAKEN ON aPRIL 5TH...IT WAS BRUTALLY COLD AND WINDY.
IN TERMS OF HSBC, They still employ 3000 people in Buffalo, split between HSBC Atrium bldg. downtown, and a bldg. out in Depew.

It's very good to see all this new development and redevelopment happening in Buffalo. Long overdue, but I believe it's here to stay. Buffalo has so much to offer developers to re-invigorate the downtown. I believe that within a few years, Buffalo will be on those Hot Markets Lists published by publications and on the internet. Lets hope that it is, too. Keep it up, Buffalo!!
