And it makes it easy to understand how the effect is achieved. But this close-up look at the cladding panels confuses me even more about what they are made of. Close up they look too smooth to be what I thought earlier: Precast concrete. So maybe they are metal. I think you'd have to see them up close and "alive" which, being away for the winter, I can't do.

I tried to get as close as possible. It isn’t readily apparent if the panels are precast or metal. To my eye the finish on the panels, when it reacts to light, has a sublte softness.

I hate this building! It looks so cheap and ugly! And short!

Thank you! I tried to upload from mobile and it obviously didn’t work, was going try again when I had access to a desktop/laptop.

Agreed. This one was definitely designed to be appreciated from afar. Unfortunately, nowadays, a lot of cities get towers that focus more on enhancing the skyline rather than thoughtfully considering their impact (aesthetic or otherwise) at the street level.

I think for this building it depends on the angle. Seems like some viewpoints are more flattering than others. Overall I personally love the design and concept but I’d agree that this latest image doesn’t really capture the effect to its maximum (not the fault of the photographer). However it’s difficult to judge until the facade is fully installed, I think the silhouette will have a nice wavy effect from anywhere!

I may start to see the cladding in a week or two from my apartment in the Civic Center.
